People

There are no two people alike. Although there are billions of people around the world, no one is completely the same as the other, even in the case of twins. This is because a person is unique in his own right. However, despite the vast differences among people, the similarities among various people are undeniable. Below are some aspects where the differences and similarities among people are exhibited.

Habit

Habit refers to a behavior that is repeated regularly. People's habit can be classified as either bad or good. Good habits are those routines of behavior that can have a positive effect to a person. A person's bad habits, on the other hand, are those repeated behavior that can have a negative effect to that person. These habits of people, according to many psychologists, can be changed with the passage of time or when a person wills to change them.

Values

Values, as the name implies, are ideas, principles, philosophies or traits that people put into high esteem or considered as things of great value. People have differences in values as influenced by their personalities, experiences, cultural and social backgrounds. People who have been brought up in a family of honest people, for example, may give more importance to the value of honesty than in other values. Chances are, some of these people find friends and companions using the value of honesty as a yardstick.

Interest

People's interests also vary. There are people who are interested in literature, in painting, in music and in other forms of art. There are also various people who have a strong passion for numbers and scientific facts and research. There are many people who share the same interest that they form organizations and clubs in which they could further explore their interest.

Tradition

Tradition is a set of practices that is passed on from a generation to the next. Tradition may include beliefs and customs. People from one country usually have a different set of traditions from those coming from another country. The differences of traditions all over the world can be seen in marraige customs, cultural festivals and religious practices. Tradition may also change over time.

The aspects mentioned above are actually among the things that make up people. These factors, as mentioned earlier, are changeable. However, it would take time and a lot of effort for a person to change his or her habits, values, interests and tradition. This is why it is important that a person should have knowledge and thorough understanding of various people's personal and cultural background so he or she could learn to accept and respect others.
